Boma is the newest video-on demand and streaming service to join MTN’s bouquet of entertainment offerings. There is something for everyone at Boma, featuring a growing library of incredible local and international entertainment. Boma will be available as a daily, weekly and monthly option at an incredible price point. Free content is also available on the platform for those who just want to be entertained without subscribing.

How can customers subscribe?

Using a web browser, simply go to www.boma.tv

Open to All MTN Customers on both prepaid and postpaid

Cost: R5 per day, R15 per week and R30 per month.

Q1: How are customers able to sign in?
A: Using a web browser, customers go to www.boma.tv to sign in or sign up.
 
Q2: What happens when customers register to the service?
A: They will have access to the content on the platform. Paid subscriptions allow access to additional content.

A: Users will be able to share links to and comment on Boma content using their favourite social media apps in the coming months (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and YouTube).
 
Q5: What do I need to do when someone is using my MTN Boma platform without my permission?
A: Boma recommends that you will need to sign-out of your connected device(s) and reset you Boma account password.
 
Q6: How many devices can be connected to one MTN Boma account?
 A: There are a maximum of 4 devices that can be connected to one MTN Boma account at one given time. Two devices can stream at the same time.
 
Q7: How do I set parental controls on my MTN Boma account?
 A: To change your parental settings on the MTN Boma platform, please ensure that you are logged in: 
  • On the main navigation bar, select your profile, and select the drop-down tab on the “Settings” section.
  • Under the “Settings” section, there is a “Parental Controls” toggle.
  • Please switch on the toggle to activate parental controls.
 
Q8: Do I need WIFI or data to watch content on the MTN Boma platform?
A: Yes, you do need WIFI or data connection to watch content. There is the ability to change the quality of the content that you are viewing. This might help with data costs, particularly for users not connected to a WIFI network.
 
Q9: How do I know if I am subscribed to Boma?
A: If you select the “Manage Subscriptions” option, you will be redirected to “My Plans” page. If you are currently subscribed, you will see your plan here.
Alternatively, you can dial *123# and go to content services to manage.
 
Q10: How much does Boma cost?

Q11: How do I cancel my Boma subscription?
A: Users will need to navigate to the “Manage Subscription” section. If you are currently subscribed, you will see your plan here (and can click on the “Cancel

Q13: Where can I subscribe to Boma?
A: In any web browser – go to www.boma.tv and start your journey there.
 
Q14: Is there a Boma App?
A: Coming soon! Boma is coming to both iOS and Android later this year.
 
Q15: Can I subscribe to Boma if I am with another network other than MTN?
 A: Not yet. Boma is launching exclusively with MTN. We do have plans to open our Boma to everyone in the near future.
 
Q16: I was charged the wrong amount for Boma, who do I talk to?
A: You can send an email to support@boma.tv and we will investigate it for you.

Q17: How much data does Boma use?
A: Depending on your quality settings, Boma video can use between 150mb to 2Gb per hour at the highest resolution. To change the resolution on your video, click on the gear icon at the bottom right of the video to select your resolution.
 
Q18: What resolution does Boma use?
 A: Our videos are currently available to view in 360p, 480p, 720p and 1080p resolutions. We are constantly improving our encoding systems to give our viewers the best viewing experience at smaller file sizes.
 
Q19: Why are there so few live channels on Boma?
A: We are constantly building our libraries and live partners. Keep looking at the live tab and see which partners join us in the coming months.
 
Q20: My subscription was not renewed?
A: Please check whether you have sufficient funds to renew the subscription. Also ensure you are on a recurring subscription so that it can be automatically renewed.
 
Q21: How do I upgrade or downgrade my subscription?
A: You will need to first cancel your subscription. Once the initial subscription has lapsed, you can resubscribe to the upgrade or downgraded subscription.
 
Q22: My plan is not active despite subscribing for a recurring subscription?
A: Please check whether:
  • You did not change the subscription to one time or cancel.
  • You had sufficient funds for renewal at the time of renewal.
  
Q23: Can I download content and watch offline?
 A: We are looking at building this functionality into our app once it launches. You currently cannot download content from our web portal due to rights and copyright controls.
 
Q24: I forgot my password - how do I recover it?
A: Click the Login tab and select forgot password. Follow the prompts.
 
Q25: I am not able to view content.
A: Please check that you have a valid subscription and check your data balance.
 
Q26: How do I reach Boma for support if I have an issue?
A: Click on the Contact Us link at the bottom of our page.
 
Q27: Can I save a list of movies to watch later or continue watching from where I stopped?
 A: Yes, you can. Add any file to your playlist to watch later. Our videos also pick up from where you left off.
 
Q28: On which devices can I stream BOMA?
A: You can stream Boma on any Internet connected mobile device or tablet.
 
Q29: Is there any free content on Boma?
A: Yes, we have lots of free content for you to enjoy.
